ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize Canada is looking for an experienced Truck Driver to join the team.
You will drive a tandem dump truck, truck and quad or truck and tridem pup to transport and dump loose materials, such as sand, gravel, crushed rock or asphalt paving materials. Haul and deliver materials to and from specified vendors and job sites including loading and unloading in designated areas. The location for this role is Spallumcheen and will be servicing all of the Okanagan.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Communicates with load and unload areas, hauls materials safely to designated areas and maintains safe speed and observes all haulage.
- Performs walk-around pre-trip safety inspections. Identifies safety problems or concerns and reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor including near misses and areas where safety can be improved.
- Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors and customers serviced.
- Required to understand general knowledge intermediate cell phone and computer skills
- Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with Company standards
- May require physical activity, must be capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting
- Responsible for completing daily checklist, journal and reports
- Continuously communicating with plant operators, truckers, quality control and dispatch
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Field of Study Preferred: Class 1 Driver’s License and Air breaks
Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years gravel truck experience with tandem axle trucks and quad trailers is a must.
Required Training/Certifications: Clean drivers abstract must accompany the resume and three references.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required
Additional Requirements:
- Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience hauling construction materials.
- Heavy machinery / equipment experience
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
