ABOUT THE ROLE

 

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking a Concrete Lab Intern for Summer 2026 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning May 27th, 2026. 

 

This internship will be based at our site in Ste. Genevieve cement plant in Bloomsdale, MO. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lab activities:
    • Gain insights into the vital role of our laboratory in ensuring product quality through internal testing, customer testing, and research initiatives.
    • Participate in the Company’s Competitive Cement Testing Program to grasp its value and significance within the industry, including analyzing customer concerns through case studies and shadowing local Technical Service Engineers.
    • Gain hands-on experience with calorimetry testing, sulfate resistance testing, alkali-silica reactivity testing, evaluation of potential Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs), and aggregate evaluation.
  • Quality & Manufacturing Department Exposure:
    • Spend time with our Quality Department to comprehend their role in cement production, learn about required cement testing procedures, and understand the significance of each constituent in producing high-quality cement.
    • Experience a comprehensive tour of our Ste. Genevieve plant, showcasing every aspect of our operations, from quarrying to the shipment of cement via rail and barge.
  • Field Experience with Technical Service Engineer (TSE):
    • Have the opportunity to shadow a local TSE to gain insight into their daily responsibilities and the technical aspect of their role
    • Customer Technical support
    • Technical training and Monitoring
    • Technical Committee Assignments
    • Specifier Relationship Management

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for enthusiastic students who meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Concrete Industry Management (CIM), Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or similar field. 
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and firsthand knowledge of our business operations.


SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
  • Work Environment: You will be working in a cement manufacturing and production environment, which includes exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and various weather conditions.
  • Transportation: You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Travel Requirements: You may need to travel for site tours, shadowing experiences, or intern events throughout the duration of your internship.
