ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated Graduate to join our dynamic team, where you will help bridge the gap between technical resource management and strategic land development. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your career towards becoming a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Geoscientist (P.Geo) or a specialist in land and asset management. As a Graduate Land & Resource co-ordinator, you will support the full lifecycle of our operations - from targeting and acquiring new aggregate properties to ensuring reclamation compliance at the end of a site's life. You will work cross functionally within Mining Engineers, Geologists, Land Managers, GIS Specialists, Operations, Environmental team and external stakeholders to sustain and grow our footprint across Western Canada. We are hiring two candidates to be based out of our Surrey, BC or Calgary, AB offices.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Assist in the targeting and evaluating potential aggregate properties for acquisition or lease to sustain regional operations.
  • Support the process of securing land and resource permits from provincial and municipal government bodies and ensure paperwork is kept up to date.
  • Help maintain positive relationships with landowners, neighbours, local communities and First Nation groups.
  • Develop an understanding of laws, agreements and contracts related to real estate, zoning and reclamation.
  • Support the annual reporting process for SK1300 (SEC), alongside all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing development of the Land Information System (LIS) and ensure all land and resource documents are properly maintained.
  • Assist the Land Manager or Geological team on field exploration activities and site walk-overs.
  • Learn how to use software such as AutoCAD and GIS to assist with the Land and Resource team as required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in any land related field, Geology, Mining Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce or related disciplines.
  • Professional Ambition: A strong interest in pursuing a career in land and resource management.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills are essential for this role, with the ability to represent the company at public or governmental functions.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Multitasking: Organized with a good ability to juggle competing priorities and multiple projects.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS and/or volumetric software would be a significant advantage.
  • Travel Requirements: 30-40% local travel to support operational teams and 10-20% travel outside of the local market may be required.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in the last 0-2 years. 
Field of Study Preferred: Geology, Mining Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce or related disciplines.
Required Work Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience.  
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite and Google Suite. AutoCAD and GIS is an asset. 
Travel Requirements: 30-40% of local travel to support operational teams, monitor land assets and meet with external stakeholders.  10-20% travel outside of the local market may be required.
