ABOUT THE ROLE
The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising a team of welders and fitters to ensure that all welding and fabrication work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This position involves coordinating daily work activities, maintaining quality control, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring that project deadlines are met.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH 

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of welders, fitters, and helpers on-site or in the shop and in the field.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and project drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily welding tasks to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
  • Inspect completed welds for accuracy, structural soundness, and adherence to codes or customer standards.
  • Ensure all welding equipment and tools are properly maintained and in safe working condition.
  • Train and mentor crew members, promoting skill development and adherence to company standards.
  • Coordinate with project management, quality control, and other trades to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Maintain daily reports on production, materials used, and labor hours.
  • Assist with problem-solving and technical troubleshooting as needed in the field or shop.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of welding experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
Required Training/Certifications: Journeyman Welder or equivalent certification required.
Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core, etc.) and materials (carbon steel, stainless, aluminum).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and welding codes (CWB, ASME, API, etc.).
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and hazard awareness.
  • Valid welding certifications and safety tickets (CWB, WHMIS, CSTS, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including shop and field settings, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Combination of indoor shop and outdoor field work.
  • May require overtime, weekends, or travel depending on project demands.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work at heights or confined spaces when required.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
