ABOUT THE ROLE
As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking an Risk Management Intern for Summer 2026 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning May 27th, 2026.
This internship will be based at our site in Chicago, IL.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Assist with the administration of commercial insurance programs, including General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Auto, Property, Umbrella, and Professional Liability coverage.
- Support the renewal process by gathering underwriting data, preparing submission materials, and updating policy records.
- Help manage certificates of insurance (COIs), endorsements, and other policy documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized risk management databases and tracking tools.
- Collaborate with internal teams and insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate handling of coverage updates and policy information.
- Participate in claims tracking and loss analysis, helping identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with special projects, presentations, and process improvements within the Risk Management department.
- Gain exposure to the broader insurance lifecycle—from policy issuance and audits to renewals and compliance.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with insurance or CRM systems is a plus.
- A proactive learner with curiosity about how businesses manage and transfer risk.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
- Team oriented and able to work with all levels of the organization.
SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT
- Work Schedule:This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
- Work Environment: You’ll be working in an office environment.
- Transportation: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from their worksites.
- Travel: Throughout the internship, you may need to travel to other sites for intern events.
