Asphalt Quality Control Manager
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Manager in the asphalt division. A QC Manager is responsible for ensuring that asphalt materials and mixes meet required specifications, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines. To oversee testing procedures, monitor production processes, and address any quality issues to maintain consistency and performance. They also collaborate with production and project teams to improve processes and ensure successful project outcomes.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure all asphalt materials and mix designs consistently meet DOT, ASTM, and project-specific specifications through rigorous testing and quality assurance protocols.
  • Lead daily quality control operations, including both laboratory and field testing of aggregates, binders, and asphalt mixtures.
  • Develop, implement, and refine quality control plans to improve product consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze production data and test results to identify trends, prevent defects, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with plant operators and paving crews to optimize mix performance and resolve field issues in real time.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory and field testing equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of test results, inspections, and compliance records for internal and external audits.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise QC technicians, ensuring adherence to testing procedures and safety standards.
  • Investigate non-conformance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize risk and rework.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment on quality expectations and standards.
  • Monitor raw material sources and supplier quality to ensure consistency and reliability in production inputs.
  • Support successful project delivery by ensuring high-quality materials, reducing waste, and improving overall customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelors Degree or 7 years equivalent experince
  • Field of Study Preferred: Technical discipline such as Chemistry or Engineering and / or related fields
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt quality control, materials testing, or related field.
  • Travel Requirements: Local Asphalt plant locations and jobsites
  • Proficent in Microsoft Office – SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing)
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards and specifications.
  • Proven ability to manage both laboratory and field testing operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of asphalt mix design, aggregate properties, and binder performance.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to resolve quality issues.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to train, mentor, and supervise QC staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with operations teams, project managers, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in quality control reporting, documentation, and relevant software systems

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
