ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills who can work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. You'll provide excellent customer service by engaging with employees and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.

You'll need to be proficient with Microsoft Windows and MS Office and be able to comfortably navigate point-of-sale systems to complete transactions. You'll operate weigh scales and front-end systems accurately according to company policies. A key part of your role is communicating with and receiving feedback from truck drivers on topics of safety, logistics, and service. You'll also assist with various administrative tasks as directed by the management team.

The ideal candidate must be flexible to work early mornings or afternoons and be on-call for weekend work depending on customer demand. You'll also need to work extended hours to provide coverage for vacations.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Safety: You'll promote a culture of safety with the objective of "zero" incidents. You will demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to Lafarge Safety Policies, Lafarge Safety Principles, and the Lafarge Safe Trucker Program in all work environments with employees and site visitors. You will follow all safety requirements from management and communicate any suggestions or concerns you identify. You'll also engage in daily safety communication activities, such as huddles and safety audits.
  • Housekeeping: You will ensure the scale house and surrounding area are kept safe, presentable, and functional.
  • Customer Service: You'll provide assistance via phone or in-person to visitors and direct them to the appropriate personnel for further help. You'll engage all inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Dispatch: You will follow the daily dispatch checklist to identify, record, and communicate changes to the dispatchers to minimize delivery disruptions.
  • Front-End: You'll operate the Apex system to check in trucks and produce weigh-bills/tickets for goods accurately and in a timely manner. You'll operate 2-way intercom and radio systems. You will ensure weight restrictions are followed, collect documentation, and proactively communicate any issues with dispatch, sales, and back-office. You'll also collect monies for cash sales and reconcile them against the register.
  • Administration: You will administer resale ticket entry into the enterprise system in a timely and accurate fashion. You'll also administer receipts of resale weigh-bills and file documents and weigh-bills for future reference.
  • Reporting: You will produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: A high school diploma is required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of work experience is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with MS Office, SAP, and APEX is an asset.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • You must adhere to safety policies and work practices.
  • You will be expected to be on time for all scheduled shifts.
  • You should treat customers, haulers, and coworkers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • You must accurately and timely enter data and information into the enterprise system as required.
  • You'll be responsible for the accurate and timely communication of truck status with dispatch.
  • You will also check for compliance with the Safe Trucker Program and deliver key logistics messages to drivers.
  • You'll receive and report feedback from drivers to the appropriate personnel.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
