ABOUT THE ROLE
The QC Technician Level II – Ready Mix is responsible for performing advanced quality control testing on ready mix concrete and aggregates in both field and laboratory settings. This role works directly with customers, batch plant operators, production managers, and the QC and Lab Managers to ensure products meet all relevant specifications and quality standards. The technician is also responsible for maintaining and calibrating testing equipment, keeping accurate records, and supporting continuous improvement in product quality and customer satisfaction.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform laboratory and field sampling and testing of ready mix concrete and aggregates to ensure compliance with state, project, and customer specifications.
  • Conduct standard and advanced tests on concrete (such as slump, air content, unit weight, temperature, compressive strength, and flexural strength) and aggregates (including sieve analysis, specific    gravity, absorption, and other relevant tests).
  • Work directly with customers on job sites to address quality concerns, provide technical support, and ensure proper sampling and placement of concrete.
  • Collaborate with batch plant operators and production managers to troubleshoot issues, recommend adjustments, and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Work closely with the QC Manager and Lab Manager in the Ready Mix Laboratory to conduct testing, analyze data, and support quality initiatives.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory and field testing equipment; document calibration activities and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Accurately document and report test results; maintain test databases and calibration records, and prepare detailed technical reports as required.
  • Assist with the development, administration, and documentation of material control plans and quality control procedures for ready mix operations.
  • Educate customers, field personnel, and plant staff on proper sampling, handling, and application of ready mix concrete and aggregates.
  • Maintain a plant and field diary documenting weather, materials produced, samples taken, problems encountered, corrective actions, and general quality comments.
  • Support and promote a culture of safety, adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or GED required, Associates degree preferred 
Required Work Experience: 1-3 years experience in Ready Mix concrete or aggregate quality control 
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to work sites (40%)

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
