ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize is looking for an experienced Civil Foreperson to lead and support civil construction crews completing excavation, grading, site preparation, asphalt paving, concrete, and infrastructure projects. The Civil Foreperson will provide daily leadership and direction to field employees while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards, project specifications, and production targets. This role supports a variety of construction projects ranging from small civil works to large municipal and highway projects.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Lead and oversee daily civil construction activities (including excavation, grading, site prep, paving, and concrete), adapting to changing conditions to meet schedule and production targets.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and work plans to thoroughly understand the scope and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor the efficient utilization of labor, materials, and equipment to support operational objectives.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and mentor crew members to foster skill development and build a high-performing team.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure all completed work strictly adheres to project specifications and company standards.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained, available for daily operations, and operated safely.
  • Communicate and collaborate with project teams, estimators, customers, and contractors to address requirements and provide field updates.
  • Complete daily safety huddles, inspections and risk assessments (FLRAs), enforce safe work practices, and actively promote a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain a clean, organized worksite while ensuring compliance with all environmental requirements and responsible work practices.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Construction-related training or leadership development considered an asset.

Required Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in construction, civil construction, grading, or related industry. Experience leading construction crews in a field environment. Experience with excavation/grading equipment and construction processes. Experience supporting asphalt paving, concrete, or civil infrastructure projects considered an asset.

Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of grading processes, construction methods, and equipment operations. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications. Ability to understand project requirements and support quality control processes. Strong understanding of construction safety practices and procedures.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be required between project sites.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
