ABOUT THE ROLE
The objective of this position is to develop and maintain a relationship with the Province and Project Owner. Assist the field crews in work planning, ensure safety and environmental policies are followed, control labour equipment and material costs, and promote the company to potential customers.

This position is offered as a 12-month maternity leave coverage contract.
 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Provide direct supervision to the Operations Coordinator and assist the Operations Manager with work planning.
  • Work together with Edmonton business units to ensure consistency and efficient allocation of shared resources.
  • Support the Operations Manager and General Manager in preparing and reviewing operating budgets, production costs, and profit reporting.
  • Track and manage all bridge, road, and appurtenance inspections, and plan major maintenance projects with Alberta Transportation, City of Edmonton, and other agencies.
  • Review hazard assessments, SWPs, FLRAs, and audit findings, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and safety meetings; understand and follow all safety rules and policies.
  • Schedule and track field work orders, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time, and provide cost control for maintenance contract work.
  • Create and process 3rd-party and extra work billings monthly, ensuring specific contract requirements are met.
  • Fill in for the Operations Manager during absences and promote continuous improvement and employee development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
Required Work Experience: 5 years in highway maintenance and/or a construction background
Required Training/Certifications: C.E.T. ; R.E.T. or  P. Eng. designation preferred.
Travel Requirements: N/A

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be skilled at handing people.
  • Must be capable to work with minimum supervision
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
