ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Estimating Manager leads a team of estimators in a multi-discipline construction environment, overseeing the full estimating process from take-off through to final pricing and bid submission on projects ranging from small to multimillion-dollar contracts. This role is responsible for ensuring bid accuracy, coordinating vendors and subcontractors, and identifying safe, efficient construction methods.
This position plays a key role in driving successful bids, improving estimating strategies, and supporting the growth of the construction division.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Lead, coach, and develop the estimating team while fostering a safe, positive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the full estimating lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all bid submissions.
  • Examine and analyze tender and contract documents, identify risks and ambiguities, and coordinate clarifications with internal teams and external consultants and or customers.
  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour, equipment and overheads for construction projects based on contract tender documents, quotations, blueprints and specifications.
  • Plan and manage the bid process, including schedules, take-offs, subcontractor/vendor pricing, negotiations, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Evaluate construction methodologies to determine optimal approaches based on cost, quality, and resource availability.
  • Track bid performance, analyze results, and continuously improve estimating systems, tools, and strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams through award and execution phases, ensuring alignment on budgets, schedules, and cost tracking.
  • Support project delivery by pricing change orders and providing ongoing estimating guidance as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and industry partners to support business development efforts.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: College Diploma or University Degree.
Field of Study Preferred: Construction, Engineering, or Business.
Required Work Experience: at least 10 years’ experience as a civil construction estimator.
Required Training/Certifications: Gold Seal Certification in Estimating preferred.
Required Technical Skills: Proficient with BID2WIN Estimating Software and Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Travel Requirements: 10%.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of equipment types and civil construction methods.
  • Proven experience developing labour, equipment, and construction cost rates.
  • Expertise in cost estimating processes and contract types, including Lump Sum and Unit Rate.
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, including with incomplete information.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
