ABOUT THE ROLE
The Controller is the “Business Partner” on the “Market Leadership Team” to assist in the development and implementation of market area objectives and strategies and to ensure there is effective control in the financial management reporting systems. The Controller is responsible for coordinating and preparing accurate monthly reports, forecasts, budgets, capital and other financial information. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and works to improve understanding of key business drivers and maximize results within the product line. Identification and implementation of best practices comprise a key component of this role.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Manage plant accounting and reporting functions, including preparation of management presentations and financial statements.
- Interpret financial data and events, providing analysis and actionable recommendations to support decision-making.
- Maintain robust financial and accounting controls, ensuring accurate reconciliation of asset and liability accounts.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with business partners to align financial plans with operational goals.
- Collaborate with plant management and Service Centers to drive alignment and achieve Finance objectives.
- Develop and review strategic and business plans (MTP), contributing to long-term planning and performance management.
- Oversee compliance with company policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across all financial activities.
- Manage inventory controls, including monthly balance reviews and reconciliation of physical counts to system records.
- Act as a change agent for continuous improvement, driving enhancements in financial processes and systems.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: University Degree.
Field of Study Preferred: Accounting, Finance, Business.
Required Work Experience: at least 5 years of financial management experience with increasing responsibility and complex roles.
Required Training/Certifications: Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent education and experience and continuing professional education.
Required Technical Skills: MS Office, Google Suite, SAP.
Travel Requirements: regular travel between Calgary and the Exshaw plant.
Additional Requirements:
- IFRS / US GAAP knowledge, an asset.
- Demonstrated financial/business analysis/cost control skills.
- Detailed knowledge of Amrize plant operations an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
- Strong ability to influence with and without authority.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
