ABOUT THE ROLE 
The primary goal of the Health & Safety Coordinator is to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health & safety at our Exshaw, AB Cement plant. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Work with Exshaw Management Team and Canadian Cement Health & Safety Team to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety processes and systems.
  • Participate in the delivery of safety communications and programs to support the Amrize Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).
  • Provide onsite field presence within the operations to provide constructive feedback through coaching and mentoring both front line employees and leadership.
  • Develop and deliver safety related training modules and programs, including the development of site specific materials such as site orientations and tool box talks.
  • Coach management and employees on legislative and internal health and safety management systems.
  • Organize, prepare for and conduct health and safety management system audits such as COR, and/or internal audits.
  • Complete necessary WCB paperwork and work with operations to manage WBC claims.
  • Management of safety document databases including Intelex, iCare and Avetta to ensure documents, investigations and contractor records are properly managed.
  • Support the completion of workplace investigations into incidents and possible safety violations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree
Field of Study Preferred: Occupational Health & Safety 
Required Work Experience: up to 3 years working experience as a health & safety professional in a manufacturing/industrial setting
Required Training/Certifications: CSO, NCSO, CRST or CRSP 
Required Technical Skills: MS Office, Google Suite
Travel Requirements: approximately 10% travel outside of the local area

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization 
  • Solid knowledge of Provincial OH&S regulations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Able to influence without authority
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to attend to detail, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
