ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quarry Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the quarry. The Quarry Manager provides leadership to quarry employees and contractors and is accountable for safety, environmental compliance, production, quality, mine planning, equipment performance, budgeting, cost management, and continuous improvement.
The Quarry Manager works closely with Plant Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Environment, and other departments to ensure quarry activities are aligned with current and long-term plant requirements.
WHAT THEY’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Serve as a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, contributing to a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Monitors daily production, blast layout and patterns, drilling operations, blasting operations, safety, staffing, training, labour relations, primary crushing and stacking of raw materials.
- Establish clear expectations, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback to build a high-performing, engaged, and accountable team.
- Direct all quarry and mining operations to ensure a reliable and consistent supply of high-quality materials for plant production
- Reviews, confirms, and executes the long term mining plan such that sufficient reserves are located and verified in quality. Executes the mine reclamation plans for quarry.
- Develops crushing strategies for all additives and limestone and resolves material handling issues (shale, red shale, gypsum, iron, sandstone, etc).
- Reduces the quarry’s operating cost by implementing continuous improvement initiatives and reducing the reliance on third-party services.
- Manages all aspects of mobile equipment maintenance at the Cement Plant. Direct oversight of scheduling and maintenance of mobile equipment at the site. Responsible for mobile equipment maintenance budget and costs.
- Provide visible leadership in health, safety, and environmental performance while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence through consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Support implementation of new technologies, operational best practices, and standardized work processes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce operational and environmental risks.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to provide leadership, guidance, and coordination that aligns plant operations with business objectives and performance targets.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that supports teamwork, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
Field of Study Preferred: Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field
Required Work Experience: 5–8 years of experience as a successful manager of a mine operation; proven track record in aggregate manufacturing or related industry.
Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in excel or google sheets and SAP.
Travel Requirements: 10%

- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage, engage, and develop employees, set clear expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with thorough knowledge of quarry manufacturing processes, mine planning, development, and cost management.
- Accountable for product delivery to the plant, navigating obstacles, finding resources, and driving positive solutions.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
