ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Yard Supervisor's prime objective is to coordinate the activities of the Yard in order to maintain a clean plant within safety, environment, quality, production requirements, and cost standards. In addition, the incumbent will ensure Yard employees are held accountable for established work standards and performance levels in order to achieve the Plant’s objectives and targets. 
This is an entry level position with future potential advancement which would require shift work. Reports directly to the Production Coordinator. This position works with all departments such as Production, Maintenance, and Quarry.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Improve and maintain housekeeping within Plant premises in order to achieve a clean, safe and environmentally compliant plant.
  • Liaise with other areas within the Plant toward successful scheduling and execution of assigned work.
  • Employ continuous improvement practices aimed at making the Plant a safer, cleaner, more efficient work place. 
  • Being a safety leader, proactively act in eliminating/controlling risk, and lead and inspire the crew by example.
  • Participate in development and implementation of safety rules and procedures.
  • Organize yard manpower to best suit the department’s requirements.
  • Defines objectives for the yard employees and carries out the necessary performance reviews.  
  • Promote quality of work and motivate personnel.
  • Effectively supervise 14-yard employees.
  • Organizes and supervises (LCC) Contractors as required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent industrial and supervisory experience.
Field of Study Preferred: Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. 
Required Work Experience: 5 years’ experience in a heavy industry, two of which are at a supervisory level.
Required Technical Skills: Experience with MS Office, SAP, Kronos is an asset. 
Travel Requirements: 10%

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
