ABOUT THE ROLE
The Health & Safety Manager for the Portland Red Creek project in Colorado will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of health and safety compliance throughout the estimated 30-month construction project. 
The Health & Safety Manager will play a crucial role in upholding Amrize USA's commitment to safety throughout the entire project. This position requires a highly experienced professional who can ensure strict compliance with safety standards and cultivate a safety-conscious culture among all project participants, especially contractors
This role requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial construction, with at least 5 of those years working under MSHA jurisdiction. The manager will oversee site activities, ensure strict adherence to MSHA and Amrize Safety Standards, and manage contractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Provide strong leadership in promoting a safety-first culture among all project personnel.
  •  Lead by example by adhering to safety standards and practices.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
  • Working together with Plant personnel and corporate safety to develop standard operating procedures for the new system/equipment.
  • Developing a safety site construction plan
  •  Ensure that all project activities, including construction and site operations, adhere to Amrize
  • Safety Standards and relevant regulations.
  •  Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance.
  •  Identify training needs and provide or facilitate training to ensure all personnel are adequately prepared for their roles.
  • Stay updated on new safety technologies and methodologies and integrate them into the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational H&S, HSE
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the industrial construction field.
o    MSHA certification is mandatory.
Required Training/Certifications: Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office and Google software programs: Excel, PPT, Word, G-Drive, Knowledge of document management software (preferred)

Required: Valid driver's license
Travel Requirements:  Travel to the quarry that is 30 minutes away from Portland, CO site

 

Additional Requirements :

  • Sound knowledge of H&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
