ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Laboratory Quality Control technician, you will be required to perform analyses and tests on various samples to validate the quality of received products or finished products. The Laboratory Technician at BMQ SOLUTIONS provides technical support in order to ensure the high level of product performance and to differentiate and/or strengthen the technical position of Amrize. You will be responsible for quality control, preparing samples, using laboratory instruments, recording results, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness and maintenance, according to strict protocols while respecting safety standards. You will participate in the development of new products and take part in the continuous improvement of the quality systems in place.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Implement Amrize safety policies in accordance with local laws in effect.
  • Receive, identify, process, and prepare samples (dry mortar, bagged self-placing concrete, UHPC) for analysis.
  • Perform quality control tests on fresh and hardened concrete/mortar and raw materials in accordance with CSA and ASTM requirements.
  • Carry out analyses according to established protocols, performing measurements, readings, and manipulations.
  • Ensure all test results are entered into the quality control software and analyze test results.
  • Support operations teams in the production of dry mortar/concrete on aspects related to product quality.
  • Ensure materials are produced and shipped in compliance with the quality plan and customer specifications.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and premises to ensure technical validity and compliance.
  • Manage stocks of reagents and consumables, record data, and dispose of waste.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the construction materials industry, specifically aggregates, concrete, and cement.
  • Experience with CSA A23, A3000, and ASTM standards related to construction materials.
  • Experience in analysis/reporting of results and updating technical sampling and instrumental analysis files.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • ACI Level I Technician (an asset).
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
