ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The Project Superintendent is accountable for managing multiple construction jobsites, scheduling and updating project plans, ensuring keeping that projects keep to planned schedules and enforcing company safety policy jobsite safety. The Superintendent will work closely with the Operations Manager/Project Manager to uphold the company’s mission to deliver quality projects on-time and on-budget while maintaining a safe, compliant jobsite.   Ensures construction jobs are measured and estimates are done on a timely manner.  Also works to enhance job quality & performance. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

 

  • Health and Safety: 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas. Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example.
  • Ensures all field units are trained & aware of best practices & procedures as they relate to division.
  • Actively manages risk by ensuring that all related control activities are implemented thoroughly.
  • Drives committed and effective incident management through safety audits, daily reports, training, methods & procedures to limit & control incidents.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety rules , OSHA, MUCTD and job specific contractual requirements
  • Implementation and management of all safety initiatives
  • Maintain safety processes and procedures up to date
  • Financial Management:
  • Promotes a culture of performance and exceeding expected results.
  • Establishes effective relationships with the customers; based on quality construction & scheduling.
  • Coordinate closely with estimator to ensure effective customer and market coordination.
  • Responsible for timely submission of measurements & estimates to minimize outstanding receivables.
  • Documents & communicates customer complaints and works with the Customer to ensure they are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Construction Management:
  • Experienced in take offs from plans, compiling quantities from plans, and computing labor production/cost analysis using unit cost sheets
  • Drive and track financial performance via job cost budgets and monthly work in progress forecast.
  • Reviewing costs at month end and ensure all costs are accounted for and are accurate.
  • Provide feedback by job on a monthly basis and review work in progress.
  • Effectively develops goals and objectives to implement actions, track performance and continuously look for opportunities for improvement

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Education:  Bachelor's degree   

Field of Study Preferred:  Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Required Work Experience:  3 to 5 years of proven heavy civil construction and supervisory experience preferred

 

 

Additional Requirements: 

 

  • Good knowledge of heavy civil engineering industry
  • Proven team leadership in a multi team operations
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to analyze financial statements and make recommendations
  • Strong communication, negotiation and change management skills
  • Prior work experience in unionized environment 
  • Ability to foster and grow a strong safety culture
  • High energy positive leader with ability to influence high performing teams
  • Independent thinker
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
