ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a licensed Electrician in our Asphalt Division to work at our plant location in Bladensburg, MD. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems within a high-demand industrial plant environment. The role supports daily operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and upholding safety and compliance standards, while also contributing to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement of plant electrical systems..

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment in an industrial asphalt plant setting
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using testing devices and diagnostic tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance on motors, conveyors, control panels, and production equipment
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, electrical codes, and company policies
  • Support plant operations by minimizing downtime and responding quickly to equipment failures
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to improve system performance
  • Lead and support advanced electrical troubleshooting efforts on complex plant systems, minimizing downtime and improving reliability
  • Assist in the design, upgrade, and installation of electrical systems, including control panels and automation improvements
  • Perform and support PLC and control system diagnostics, including making minor program adjustments when necessary
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and recommending electrical or automation upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Field of Study Preferred: Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electrical Systems, or a related technical field
  • Required Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting, preferably in asphalt plants, manufacturing, or heavy industry
  • Travel Requirements: 25%-50% throughout Prince George County & Anne Arundel County
  • Journeyman Electrician License issued in the state of Maryland
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, PLCs, and control systems
  • Experience in asphalt plants or similar heavy industrial environments
  • Familiarity with automated systems and process controls
  • Additional certifications or technical training in electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing high-voltage systems
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and OSHA standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced troubleshooting of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and ability to modify or support ladder logic when needed
  • Experience with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) including programming, diagnostics, and optimization
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when required
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and calibration (sensors, transmitters, and process control devices)
  • Proven ability to perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement long-term corrective solutions
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
