ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of high-quality construction materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Production Engineer to support operations within our Aspahlt divison throughout Prince Georges County, Charles County and Anne Arundel County.  The Production Engineer is responsible for optimizing plant production processes, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining product quality through effective quality control practices. This role analyzes production data, supports mix design and process improvements, troubleshoots operational challenges, and collaborates with plant teams to improve productivity, consistency, reliability, and compliance with quality standards


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain asphalt production data, including production volumes, process orders, and operational reports to support accurate tracking and business decisions.
  • Monitor asphalt production performance, review site data, and collaborate with plant leadership to adjust production schedules and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Support asphalt mix production processes by maintaining accurate product information, material data, recipes, and production records within company systems.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory levels, including raw materials and finished asphalt products, ensuring accurate reporting and alignment between physical inventory and system records.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to asphalt production teams, helping resolve operational challenges and improve plant performance.
  • Perform quality control testing on asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and raw materials to verify compliance with mix designs, customer specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Partner with plant management, quality teams, and operations personnel to ensure asphalt products meet required specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
  • Review laboratory test results, monitor production quality trends, and collaborate with plant operations to identify and implement corrective actions that ensure consistent product quality.
  • Support the development, calibration, and verification of asphalt mix designs by working closely with Quality Control personnel to maintain product consistency, regulatory compliance, and optimal plant performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing production processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Assist with safety initiatives by supporting training, documentation, job safety analyses (JSA/JHA), observations, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide system support and maintain accurate production records, equipment information, materials data, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with maintenance planning activities, equipment tracking, and special projects to improve plant reliability and minimize production interruptions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for asphalt plant teams by providing training, guidance, process support, and assistance with operational improvement projects.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered..
  • Required Work Experience: 0–3 years of experience in asphalt production, quality control, construction materials, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment; internships and co-op experience are considered.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 25–50% to asphalt plant locations and job sites to support production operations, quality control activities, process improvements, plant audits, and cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of asphalt quality control principles, including sampling, testing, and ensuring compliance with DOT and customer specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret production and quality data to support operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with operations, quality control, maintenance, and engineering teams to achieve production, quality, and safety
  • objectives.
  • Knowledge of asphalt mix design principles, plant calibration, and production controls to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Interest in learning asphalt mix designs, production processes, and plant optimization techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in asphalt plant equipment, production systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret production reports, technical specifications, engineering drawings, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to analyze production and quality data, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement solutions that enhance operational performance and product consistency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP or other production management systems is a plus.


Additional Requirements:

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
