ABOUT THE ROLE
The position will work closely with QC/manufacturing to maintain the highest level of quality for all products. Role and responsibilities will include collecting and tests concrete and aggregate samples using routine methods and basic arithmetic computations. You will be required to adhere to all local, state, MSHA and environmental regulations as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines booklet, and any/all rules or information provided by the Company or customer sites.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform all responsibilities safely.
- Collecting aggregate samples.
- Performing routine testing of aggregate samples (quartering samples, running
gradations, washes, moistures and picking deleterious). - Performing basic concrete QC tests slump, air, temperature, sampling,
cylinders, unit weight. - Testing concrete strength specimens.
- Assisting in the preparation and testing of laboratory concrete trial batches.
- Entering data into the aggregate and concrete quality reporting system.
- Calibrating lab equipment.
- Performing routine housekeeping of laboratory.
- Performing all other projects and duties as assigned by the supervisor.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Two year technical degree preferred or three years in QC testing of construction materials in lieu of education.
- Basic computer skills including basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of statistics.
- Ability to obtain ACI concrete and aggregate certifications as required.
- Excellent driving record.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sitting, standing, walking for extended period of time.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and stockpiles.
- Working at elevated heights.
- Tolerating noise, temperature, and enviromental variations.
