ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant operator/heavy equipment operator at the Amrize – Manitoulin Aggregate site safely performs a combination of tasks, including housekeeping activities, preventive maintenance, the operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production and shipping of aggregates, and routine maintenance and repairs as directed.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Work in a team environment with other co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Operate various pieces of fixed and mobile equipment to meet production and shipping requirements.
  • Complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or hand-held tools.
  • Work safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment using the appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals.
  • Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any problems affecting the assigned work.
  • Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and be alert to correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Required Work Experience: 1-5 Years in mining or Heavy equipment operation preferred.
  • Travel Requirements: 100% on-site work.
  • Skills: Mechanical aptitude and good written and oral communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Dependability – follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction.

 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Be willing to work nights, overtime, and weekends when required.
  • Basic welding and fitting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied temperatures, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Must pass a police background check due to the use of explosives on the property.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
