Business Support Lead
Mississauga, ON, CA, L4V 1S7
Join Amrize as a Business Support Lead and help construct what's next. If you're ready to put your skills to work on projects that matter — and build a career with a company that’s building North America — we want to hear from you!
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Head of Soil Solutions, Central Canada, this position is an immersive leadership development role with real-world accountability. It is not a "shadowing" position; the Business Support Lead will own specific operational outcomes, commercial projects, and financial reports. Critically, this role operates at the intersection of two major Amrize business units. The Soil Solutions division supports the full lifecycle of Amrize’s Pits and Quarries (Aggregates). You will work with the Soil Solutions team and Aggregates team to facilitate the beneficial reuse of excess soil, turning construction by-products into the essential material needed for the final rehabilitation of our properties. You are not just moving dirt; you are restoring landscapes for future generations.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Become a subject matter expert in O. Reg. 406/19 and O. Reg. 153/04, ensuring compliance is integrated into every business decision.
- Gain comprehensive "boots on the ground" experience across our network of receiving sites, learning to balance safety, logistical efficiency, and rehabilitation standards.
- Develop acute business judgment by participating in the full project lifecycle—from sales and pricing analysis to capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and P&L management.
- Play a key role in the circular economy by bridging the gap between the Soil Solutions business and the Aggregates unit, ensuring the responsible reuse of soil directly supports the long-term rehabilitation of Amrize properties.
- Manage "boots on the ground" operations of Class 1 receiving sites, serving as the point of contact for site superintendents and trucking companies.
- Enforce quality control at the gate by visually inspecting loads and verifying documentation to prevent the intake of contaminated soil.
- Coordinate heavy equipment to ensure soil is placed and graded according to the site’s rehabilitation engineering design.
- Manage the "cradle-to-grave" tracking of soil projects under O. Reg. 406/19, ensuring all Bills of Lading and soil tracking data are audit-ready.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Business Administration, or Environmental Science.
- Work Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships/co-ops included) in construction, aggregates, mining, or logistics.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx, profit margins, and basic accounting principles.
- Data Proficiency: Strong Excel skills for volume reporting; familiarity with soil tracking software (e.g., soilFLO, Trux) is an asset.
- Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with the Aggregate Resources Act or O. Reg. 406/19 is highly preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel daily between the Head Office (Mississauga) and various active pit/quarry sites across Central Ontario.
- Comfortable working in a dusty, active construction environment as often as a corporate boardroom.
- Ability to command respect from field crews while effectively presenting to the Head of Soil Solutions
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
