ABOUT THE ROLE

The Marine Modal Manager for Eastern Canada will ensure that Amrize Canada ships the correct cementitious product to the right location in accordance with demand-driven shipment schedules. In addition, this individual will ensure that the marine fleet and assets are maintained to the proper condition in line with legal and operational requirements. The Marine Modal Manager will work closely with freight carriers and the Supply Chain team and will be the team’s single point of contact for plant shipping personnel for marine-related topics.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Manage all outbound and a portion of inbound shipment activity for the assigned marine mode, ensuring accurate and timely transportation scheduling.
  • Manage assets, including regular maintenance and major program work for barges and dock facilities.
  • Ensure that marine movements are maximized to reduce the cost of delivery and achieve cost performance and modal compliance to plan.
  • Operate in accordance with the Jones Act and the Coasting Trade Act.
  • Act as the single point of contact for plant shipping personnel for marine-related topics and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Manage demurrage for the assigned transportation mode and support the RFP process by defining service requirements and reviewing bids.
  • Maintain awareness of the modal business, including competitors’ distribution situation, and provide key operational data and analysis.
  • Optimize loading and unloading processes and equipment by working with vendors, plants, and terminals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Post-secondary Degree or equivalent. Preferred field of study in Supply chain and logistics, Business, or relevant field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional relevant work experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of a specific mode (Marine) and working knowledge of other modes of transport. Knowledge of fleet maintenance management is required. Understanding of pneumatic conveyance systems is an asset.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and planning skills, process-oriented. Strong analytical skills, research, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Communication: Good written and verbal communications.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with various computer applications is a definite asset.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 10%.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
