The Indirect Procurement Category Manager is responsible for managing the strategic sourcing and procurement of indirect spend categories. The focus is to ensure cost-effective, efficient, and timely acquisition of goods and services necessary for the organization’s operations, while driving cost savings. This role involves developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier performance, optimizing costs, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

•    Develop Procurement Strategies: Develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned indirect spend categories.
•    Proactively Identify Savings Opportunities: Continuously monitor indirect spend categories to uncover potential cost-saving opportunities. This can include identifying areas of over-spending, supplier consolidation, more efficient sourcing strategies, or negotiating better pricing or contract terms.
•    Contract Management: Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms, compliance, and risk mitigation. Manage the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring competitiveness, monitoring performance, and negotiating renewals and amendments.
•    Market Research: Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities, suppliers, and best practices.
•    Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure competitive pricing through effective negotiation with suppliers.
•    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, HR, IT, marketing) to understand needs and requirements for indirect spend categories. Serve as the main point of contact for all procurement-related matters within the assigned categories.
•    Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
•    Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on procurement activities, savings, vendor performance, and any risks or issues.
•    Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements to procurement processes, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational efficiency. This includes streamlining workflows, reducing procurement cycle times, and enhancing supplier selection and contract negotiation processes.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

•    Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
•    Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement with a focus on indirect categories is preferred. Operations experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset. 
•    Strategic Thinking:
The ability to develop long-term strategies that align procurement decisions with business goals.
•    Problem-Solving:
The capability to proactively identify problems in the supply chain or procurement process and develop effective solutions.
•    Relationship building:
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
•    Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in all aspects of procurement, from contract terms to supplier performance.
•    Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities. 
•    Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to multitask and adapt priorities quickly
•    Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels. Advanced planning & analytical capability
•    Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines efficiently. 
•    Customer-Focused Approach:
A commitment to understanding the needs of internal stakeholders and ensuring procurement strategies meet those needs.
