ABOUT THE ROLE
The Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing and operating the crushing plant. This role's primary focus is to lead the health and safety of the plant, while operating to achieve maximum productivity and the lowest production cost at all stages of operation. The Lead Hand sets an example by working alongside plant staff on all activities, including maintenance, inspections, cleanup, and feeding the plant with a wheel loader. The plant may operate on both day and night shifts
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Lead the plant's health and safety efforts to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest production cost.
- Develop and instill a site-level safety culture by consistently engaging with employees and contractors, with an objective of "zero" harm.
- Ensure front-line employees comply with all relevant health and safety policies and initiatives, such as hazard reporting, risk assessment, Working at Heights, Confined Space, Energy Isolation, and Hot Work.
- Lead daily huddles and participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety.
- Support shift scheduling to meet production demands.
- Coordinate with Quality and Shipping staff to address any quality issues related to production.
- Successfully complete maintenance activities through short-term planning and execution.
- Adhere to Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) requirements.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education & Work Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. An undergraduate degree, college diploma, or equivalent field experience is also required. Experience in heavy equipment operation, preventative maintenance, and a mechanical aptitude are assets. Experience in drilling and blasting is also an asset.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are needed, along with excellent people management skills and a disciplined and process-oriented approach.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
