ABOUT THE ROLE
The Rock Truck / Equipment Operator at Stripping plant, performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production of aggregates as well as routine maintenance and repairs as directed.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform pre-operational checks, operate assigned mobile equipment as trained/directed, and keep Supervisor informed of any problems affecting assigned work (duties vary daily based on business needs).
- Complete scheduled maintenance inspections and lubrication of plant equipment using appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals, and assist with plant/equipment repairs as needed.
- Comply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations, and wear all Personal Protective equipment as prescribed.
- Ensure strict compliance with Amrize Canada safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Report all incidents, near misses, and safety hazards to the supervisor, and strictly follow Lockout/Tag out procedures.
- Maintain emergency response plan awareness, and remain willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
- Utilize good written and oral communication skills on the job.
- Demonstrate dependability by following instructions, working within a team setting, and responding to Supervisor’s direction.
- Ensure that the site meets or exceeds all Amrize and Regulatory guidelines, remaining aware of and alert to correct environmental problems in the work area.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience in construction, mining or operating heavy machinery is preferred
- Signed off Surface Miner or training of Rock Truck Driving
- Minimum Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Dependability – follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction.
- Full-G license required
- Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions and dusty environment.
- Working long shifts, overtime and weekends when required.
- Physical abilities to perform duties
- Travel Requirements: Required within the region
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
