ABOUT THE ROLE
In close collaboration with the entire experimented Lab team, the Technical Representatives and the Technical Services Director, the chemistry lab Technician supports production, sales, and product development for the Canada Cement Division through laboratory work.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Respect and promote safe practices in the laboratory by adopting appropriate behaviors
- Make sure to handle chemicals safely, respecting the environment. Ensure the safe handling laboratory equipment and mechanical devices.
- Perform analyzes according to different standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, CSA and others.
- Be responsible for the proper use of the equipment and its maintenance and follow-up.
- Participate in inter-laboratory test campaigns such as CCRL, RRT and CSA. Respect the quality assurance program of the laboratory.
- Keep track of the data and manage data entry.
- Participates in the continuous improvement of ergonomics in the laboratory and Health & Safety protocols.
- Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of laboratory equipment.
- Collaborates effectively with quality, laboratory (including cement division) and field teams.
- Performs tests and implements the laboratory program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: College Diploma.
- Additional Education Preferred: Field of Study Preferred: Chemistry.
- Required Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of laboratory experience.
- Required Technical Skills:
- Have knowledge and skills with different operating systems (Microsoft).
- Analytical and judgmental skills, manual dexterity.
- Proficient in the following laboratory methods: XRF, Element analysis (S, Hg, C), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Particle size analysis by laser diffraction (PSD), Automatic and manual titration, Microscopy, etc.
- Travel Requirements: 0%.

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
