ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Technician III in the asphalt division at our Waldorf, MD location. A Quality Control Technician III is responsible for overseeing advanced testing of raw materials and finished asphalt to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role also includes leading field and laboratory testing activities, analyzing complex data, and supporting production teams to maintain consistent quality and operational excellence.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure asphalt materials consistently meet or exceed project specifications and industry quality standards
  • Conduct advanced laboratory and field testing on raw materials and finished asphalt products
  • Monitor production processes and provide real-time quality feedback to plant operations
  • Accurately document, analyze, and report test results to support compliance and performance tracking
  • Identify quality issues early and recommend effective corrective actions to production teams
  • Support calibration, maintenance, and proper use of testing equipment and instruments
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to maintain consistent mix quality and performance
  • Assist in implementing quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements in all testing activities
  • Review and interpret mix designs to verify compliance with project requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to junior technicians in testing procedures and best practices
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
  • Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Materials Science, or related field
  • Required Work Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in asphalt, construction materials testing, or quality control, with demonstrated progression into advanced QC responsibilities (QC Technician III level or equivalent preferred)
  • Proficent in Microsoft Office – SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing)
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in asphalt, construction materials testing, or quality control (QC III level experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards, specifications, and testing requirements
  • Proven experience performing advanced asphalt testing, including mix verification, density, gradation, and volumetrics
  • Strong understanding of asphalt production processes, mix designs, and plant operations
  • Ability to lead and support field and laboratory testing activities with minimal supervision
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify quality trends and issues
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to maintain accurate, complete, and compliant documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with quality management systems or SAP preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with production, operations, and project teamsSelf-motivated, dependable, and capable of working in fast-paced field and lab environments while ensuring safety and quality compliance

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
