ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a skilled and safety-biased Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution and industrial control systems. This role is critical to support aggressive growth and ensuring the continuous and safe operation of our machinery and facility infrastructure. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, ability to work independently, and as a part of a team.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform preventive electrical maintenance on all equipment to minimize downtime andensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and electronic systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor control centers (MCCs), and instrumentation.
- Read, interpret, and use complex industrial electrical schematics, blueprints, technical diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Wisconsin electrical codes.
- Work with a variety of specialized tools and diagnostic equipment, such as multimeters, meggers, and oscilloscopes, to diagnose and repair electrical faults.
- Install and maintain conduit, wiring, and electrical apparatus in a heavy industrial environment.
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance team, contractors, and production staff to identify and resolve electrical issues and support plant modifications or upgrades.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma
- Five or more years’ experience in an industrial environment as a maintenance employee performing Preventive (planned) and Corrective (unplanned) Maintenance
- Knowledge of and experience working in all the following areas:
- Mechanical
- Power Transmission – chains, belts, gearboxes, bearings, brakes, couplings, etc.
- Lubrication – oils, greases, storage and handling, application, etc.
- Hydraulics & Pneumatics – valves, actuators, compressors and pumps, piping and tubing, etc.
- Electrical
- DC Circuits – relays, contactors, power supplies, etc.
- AC Circuits (120V to 480V) – motors, drives, transformers, etc.
- Process Control
- Industrial Automation – robotics, PID, machine control, etc.
- PLCs & Networking – communication, signals, I/O, LANs, etc.
- Desired:
- Associates degree or 2+ years of vocational training
- Experience with maintenance technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasound Inspection, Oil Analysis, and Precision Alignment
- Certifications in mechanical/industrial fields (electrician, millwright, welding, etc.)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT)
WHAT WE OFFER
- Must hold a valid Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician License (Class B) or Master Electrician License (Class A).
- Proven experience as an electrician in industrial setting, such as a chemical plant, power plant, or wastewater treatment facility.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, motor control, and power distribution.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of NFPA 70E guidelines for working on and around energized equipment.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work on evening shift, frequent weekends, and/or on-call basis for emergency repairs, as needed.
