ABOUT THE ROLE

Westlake Paving & Aggregates, a division of Amrize Canada Inc., operating in the Okanagan Valley is currently seeking labourer to join our team. As a labourer, you will be responsible for the carry out scheduled ground maintenance work assisting in paving road construction tasks.Westlake Paving & Aggregates has established itself as a trusted provider of paving solutions, catering to the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and municipal clients. Amrize West Kelowna is a Union company that offers employee benefits and competitive wages starting at $23.69/hour subject to the qualifications and experience.. These positions are based out of our Kelowna location and work sites are throughout the Okanagan.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform general labour duties related to road construction, including base and paving work.
  • Shovel, rake, and handle small tools as needed.
  • Assist in placing, moving, and dismantling traffic control devices such as signs, barricades, cones, and flagging.
  • Work within a team environment to meet project timelines.
  • Assist with various paving-related tasks and operate a skid steer if applicable.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure all work is completed in outdoor construction site settings under various weather conditions.
  • Represent Amrize in a professional and courteous manner to maintain a positive company image.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent professional experience.
Required Work Experience:
Experience in road construction, asphalt and concrete paving

Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Required Technical Skills: Strong attention to detail.

Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver’s license

Travel Requirements: Must be willing commute to various job sites within Kelowna and surrounding area

 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet all safety requirements and company safety policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
  • Work is physically demanding, requiring lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including exposure to inclement weather, dust, and asphalt.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
