ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize West Kelowna operating in the Okanagan Valley is currently seeking applications for an experienced full-time seasonal Raker Person. We currently employ approximately 25 staff, servicing municipal, commercial, residential and provincial asphalt paving markets. Amrize West Kelowna is a Union company that offers employee benefits and competitive wages starting at $35.75 subject to the qualifications and experience. We offer a safe work environment, on the job training, up to date well-kept equipment and room for advancement. These positions are based out of our West Kelowna location and work sites are throughout the Okanagan.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ability to rake asphalt to high standards
  • Operate raking equipment to distribute and level paving materials
  • Ensure that proper grades and slopes are maintained throughout the project
  • Work in a team environment to ensure that project timelines are met
  • Perform routine maintenance on raking equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Assist with other paving-related tasks as needed
  • Follow and adhere to all the Company’s safety procedures and directives
  • Responsible to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner
  • Perform work in outdoor construction site settings
  • Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Required Work Experience: Previous experience working on asphalt and concrete paving projects. Raking Asphalt experience is considered an asset.

 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to operate raking equipment and other paving-related tools and machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain proper grades and slopes
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and working in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, nights, and early starts (irregular hours) when necessary
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Physical ability to load and unload materials from the dump tRakeruck.
  • Approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
