ABOUT THE ROLE

The lab supervisor is responsible for safely supervising all lab activities and conducting the daily activities of the Whitehall Concrete Lab which essentially consist in concrete, aggregates and related industry testing with a focus on two areas: customer service and benchmark testing. The lab supervisor is expected to ensure that all customers of the lab receive an excellent service accompanied by high quality results and technical expertise and know-how.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Contributes to resolving customer product issues and technical concerns by supporting Technical Services Engineer and Technical Managers.
  • Benchmark Amrize material performance vs competitors to effectively market our products.
  • Responsible to meet the testing requirements of Concrete, Aggregates and all other assigned products within the standard guidelines.
  • Ensuring timely and reliable testing services by prioritizing activities. Developing and implementing a work back log plan. Promoting a "delivery-on-time with quality" to service approach.
  • Responsible for the laboratory and testing equipment being kept certified, clean and well maintained.
  • External labs, participating in interlab programs and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Responsible for reporting results once testing has been completed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with 5 years of related experience

Required Work Experience:  Knowledge and experience in testing concrete and aggregates is needed, including durability testing, good understanding on the relevant cement, concrete and aggregates specification and standards.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to perform a variety of tasks, including moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good interpersonal and management skills.
  • Capable of working as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined and process-oriented.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
