ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize Canada Inc. has immediate openings for experienced Concrete Pipe Labourers to join our Pipe operation in Winnipeg. Pipe Labourers are responsible for aiding in all areas of the plant. They are responsible for collecting materials, setting up forms under supervision and basic concrete placing. They participate in housekeeping and other various tasks throughout the plant. A high level of safety practices
must be used at all times.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Receive oral instructions to determine work assignments.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Finish concrete products
- Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually or using
powered equipment. - Assist machine operators, crane operators and other workers.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance.
- Remove rubble and other debris.
- Clean and remove excess debris from molds and other equipment.
- Participate in daily Pre-Production Meetings.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Post-secondary degree, diploma, trade certificate, etc. preferred
Required Work Experience: Concrete experience would be an asset. Forklift experience would be an asset.
Required Technical Experience: Computer literacy- including Excel, Word programs a benefit
Additional Requirements:
- Able to lift 55 lbs
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment
- Able to work well with others, and unsupervised.
- Comfortable and capable of working at heights
- Mechanical aptitude
- Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
- Demonstrate strong skills in problem-solving, decision making and multi-tasking
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
