ABOUT THE ROLE
The Terminal Coordinator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Winnipeg terminal. This role ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting the organization’s distribution and customer service objectives. The incumbent provides strong leadership to terminal employees and collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet sales and logistics requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Act as the designated backup to the Terminal Manager during absences, vacations, or other periods of unavailability. Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the terminal with delegated decision-making authority and guidance from the Operations Manager.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and operational support to approximately 10 unionized employees, fostering a safe, productive, and respectful work environment.
- Coordinate daily terminal activities to ensure operations are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and operating procedures.
- Coordinate with Sales, Shipping Locations, Carriers, Regional Customer Service (CVC), and Logistics personnel to ensure efficient product movement and a high level of customer service.
- Lead by example in demonstrating teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, safety, and environmental stewardship.
- Assist the Terminal Manager in monitoring operating expenses and supporting the terminal operating budget.
- Support the implementation of operational plans and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance terminal performance and reliability.
- Coordinate terminal improvement initiatives and capital projects as assigned, ensuring work is completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and support the Preventive Maintenance Program (MaintainX), working with maintenance personnel and contractors to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Support operational efficiency by coordinating resources, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safe and efficient flow of product through the terminal.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments while promoting a culture of personal accountability and continuous improvement.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Post-secondary education or equivalent experience will be considered.
Field of Study Preferred: Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Required Work Experience: 1-2 years of experience in the cement industry
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required; occasional site visits as needed
