ABOUT THE ROLE
This position performs a variety of mechanical duties to truck and trailer units including diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair, as well as regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on concrete mixers and heavy truck equipment
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability
- Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other heavy vehicle components
- Replace worn or faulty parts following manufacturer specifications and technical manuals
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, parts, and labor hours
- Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify issues and recommend preventive maintenance
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations throughout all maintenance and repair tasks
- Stay updated on advancements in commercial transport technology and repair methods
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Trade certification preferred.
Required Training/Certifications: Level 3 or 4 Apprentice or Journeyperson certification as a Truck & Transport Mechanic. Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement preferred. Manitoba Vehicle Inspection Program certificate an asset.
Required Work Experience: Ready mix experience with London and Precision mixers an asset. Fleet Experience Preferred. Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
Technical Experience: Utilizing email and Microsoft Excel is considered an asset
Additional Requirements:
- Must have own hand tools and toolbox
- Strong knowledge of Cummins and Paccar engines, diesel systems, and heavy equipment components
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Proficient with diagnostic tools and capable of troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
- Qualified to perform annual safety inspections (MPI)
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills
- Physically fit to handle heavy lifting and work in varying weather conditions
- Welding and hydraulic systems experience considered an asset
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
