ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective of the Project Assistant is to support the Project Engineer during planning, construction, commissioning and handover of a project. This position is responsible to manage site work, materials and supervise contractors to ensure work is planned and performed efficiently, optimal quality on the job site while organizing and maintaining all project-related technical documentation, including engineering drawings, equipment data sheets, safety, quality and construction documents.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Provide and promote a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule to ensure project milestones and completion dates are met.
  • Ensure projects are built according to approved construction plans, specifications, design drawings, and applicable codes.
  • Maintain a thorough daily report tracking site progress, events, and inspections.
  • Assist with contractor onboarding processes, including site access and safety documentation.
  • Control drawing revisions and support the development of as-built documentation.
  • Maintain an organized electronic document control system (EDMS) for traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and goods receipts in SAP.
  • Assist in compiling turnover packages including O&M manuals, inspection reports, and warranties.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Civil Engineering or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience in heavy industry or project environments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) and experience working with SAP.
  • Systems: Familiarity with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) and Microsoft tools (Project, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Core Competencies: Knowledge of project management procedures, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cement technology and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
