ABOUT THE ROLE
The Plant Manager is accountable for the leadership, development & management of all functions of the HMA manufacturing business at this location. The Plant Manager will ensure lean staffing and oversee safe production to enable plant productivity and maintenance in an efficient manner, while producing quality products for customers. The primary focus will be on safety, compliance and optimum manufacturing maximizing productivity at the lowest cost of production. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising the activities of one or more asphalt plants.

 

The Plant Manager communicates goals to department employees and ensures that goals are achieved. Maximizes employee participation to achieve the desired team approach. Develops departmental personnel to enhance skills, improve responsiveness and promote business growth.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Coordinate the execution of general plant operations activities. Coordinate field management activities.
  • Help coordinate activities such as transportation and receiving of product at the plant. Ensure that we produce quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations Inspect product quality ensuring all criteria meets plan. Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
  • Provides timely and accurate tickets for customers. Runs loader or dozer at bins and stock pile, and performs plant maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Monitor, recommend, implements repairs and routine maintenance of equipment, buildings and grounds.
  • Investigates abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine cause; makes adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed.
  • Directly supervises 2 – 8 employees in the HMA division . Coach, train, mentor employees on the safe and efficient method of operating plant equipment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and assists personnel in achieving timely and efficient production schedules. Records employees’ time in online timekeeping system.
  • Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards within production area. Monitors work performed and addresses situations that do not conform to standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Works closely with Sales and Dispatch to understand customer requirements, and to effectively communicate the ability to meet requirements based on available resources. Interfaces regularly with third-party Workmen’s Compensation vendors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree or years of equivalent experience
Required Work Experience: Minimum of six years of production-related work experience. Related supervisory or group leader experience preferred.
Required Technical Skills: Basic computer skills with ability to enter information in SAP and time recording software and working with Microsoft.
Excellent communication/leadership skills.
Excellent people skills and have strong potential for strong leadership development.
Able to handle multiple responsibilities at one time and must be able to deal effectively with people using a facilitative approach.
Understanding of relevant DOT & OSHA regulations.

 

Additional:

Successful must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable laws, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
