ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will manage all aspects of Amrize’s US Indirect Tax compliance matters.  This will include management of business processes and functions that impact compliance within SAP, Vertex Returns, and OneSource Returns.  Management of customer tax credits and procedures, tax software monthly updates, amended returns, use tax analysis and reporting.  In addition, oversee sales, use, business & occupational licenses and annual reports prepared by the shared service center, providing appropriate support where needed; assist with sales and use tax audits and appeals; work in conjunction with the accounting manager on sales & use account reconciliations.  The position will identify areas and opportunities for tax recovery, conduct reverse audits; monitor and develop tax policies and procedures, including field-training company personnel on best practices; and act as a specialized subject matter expert for day-to-day transactions with regards to indirect tax impacts, including identification, development and implementation of best practices to reduce cash tax exposure and liability.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Be a specialized subject matter expert for sales and use tax compliance matters.  
  • Facilitate communication between the business and the shared service center to implement and support best practices.
  • Manage tax functionality between companies on different tax systems to coordinate cohesiveness in tax filings.  Assure streamlined integration in a time of inconsistencies to further reduce audit issues.
  • Assist with Tax GL account reconciliation and oversight. Mitigate risks & defend tax positions in 50+ jurisdictions for sales and use taxes.  
  • Manage, minimize, and respond timely to tax notices, implementing corrective action where needed. 
  • Train Amrize Sales, Purchasing, and Accounting personnel on relevant sales and use tax matters to assure the lowest taxes are achieved in advance, thus improving the cash position of the companies.
  • Prepare, review, and monitor required updates and changes on Working Instructions that are used by the Shared Service Center to prepare returns, business licensing, and annual reports, as needed.  
  • Work with consultants on tax refund projects. Oversee tax return preparation and compliance by the Shared Service Center. 
  • Establish and maintain appropriately strong tax controls and policies.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required Education:  Bachelor/Undergraduate Degree
Additional Education Preferred:  Master/Graduate Degree
Field of Study Preferred:  Tax Accounting and/or Tax Law
Required Work Experience:  7 to10 years of progressive sales and use tax experience including participation in shared service center oversight and advanced sales and use tax matters in a complex manufacturing business model
Required Training/Certifications:  CPA preferred
Required Computer and Software Skills: Experience with Vertex and Advanced Excel Skills required;  SAP/JDE experience a plus   
Travel Requirements: up to 20%  

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Previous experience with multi-national manufacturing companies
  • Possess a high level of technical sales and use tax skills
  • Significant sales, use and property tax experience required
  • A mixture of consulting firm and corporate experience is preferred
  • Must be able to apply tax principles consistent with sound business practices
  • Experience using tax research tools and familiarity with sophisticated tax concepts preferred
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
