ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re currently hiring an Asphalt Laydown Operator / Labourer for a seasonal night shift position on an exciting project at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). This is a temporary role with the potential to turn into full-time, permanent employment for the right candidate.

  • Shift: 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM

  • Schedule: 6 nights per week

  • Location: YVR

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH 

  • General laborer duties associated with all aspects of road construction including base, paving and concrete applications.

  • General duty Include but not limited to shoveling, raking, plate tamping, moving and rolling out fabric. 

  • Operate equipment as needed.

  • May be called upon to run small power tools.

  • Spotting and flagging.

  • Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.

  • Follow instructions from your supervisor or manager

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent 

Required Training/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License
Required Work Experience: Previous experience is an asset but not required

Additional Requirements:

  • Overtime as required

  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt

  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Hourly Wage: From $27.38 - $35.81 (Hourly wage will be depending on experience) 

  • Work Schedule: 8:00 pm - 6:00 am/6 days a week

  • Overtime, shift premium, and all benefits as outlined in the CBA
