ABOUT THE ROLE
The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) plays a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Sundance Fly Ash Plant. This position provides hands-on engineering support focused on improving plant performance, equipment reliability, product quality, and production capability. Working closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams, the EIT will analyze plant data, solve technical problems, lead improvement initiatives, and help implement best practices across process and mechanical systems. This role offers broad exposure to manufacturing, reliability, capital projects, and continuous improvement in a unique and growing low-carbon materials business.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Improve efficiency, consistency, reliability, and productivity through analysis of plant performance, downtime, failures, and losses.
- Conduct process studies, reliability reviews, and equipment audits to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead improvement initiatives related to process systems, mechanical systems, and maintenance practices.
- Provide technical guidance and practical support to supervisors, operators, and tradespeople.
- Support development and implementation of standard operating procedures, preventive maintenance systems, and reliability best practices.
- Lead or support root cause analysis of recurring failures, bottlenecks, and process upsets.
- Support production scheduling, inventory management, and customer service performance.
- Participate in commissioning, optimization, and future plant expansion initiatives.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and develop into a future technical or operational leader.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
Field of Study Preferred: Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline required.
Required Work Experience: 0-3 years of relevant industrial experience preferred.
Required Training/Certifications: Registered as, or eligible to register as, an EIT in Alberta.
Required Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, ability to troubleshoot industrial processes and mechanical systems, strong data analysis.
Travel Requirements: 10%

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn process, mechanical, electrical/instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
