ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is key within the cement plant team, accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company’s cement manufacturing facility. The position provides end-to-end oversight of clinker production, including kiln, fuel handling and, pyro-processing forming the core of cement manufacturing. Responsibilities include a supervisory role for control room operators (CRO’s), ensuring safe and efficient equipment operation through standardized practices and training. The position will include the training of CRO’s pursuant to the Operator Certification Program (OCP), management of the operators in the OCP, assisting in the troubleshooting and correction of upset conditions, process optimization and the performance monitoring of operators and equipment. The role requires strong technical credibility in cement plant operations, excellent communication skills, analytical problem-solving and sound operational decision-making.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Provide technical expertise for daily control room operations.
- Analyze daily production rate gaps to determine causes; develop and recommend solutions.
- Manage equipment operations through standardized best practices including creation and review of Standard Operating Practices.
- Participate in special assessments, surveys and studies when required.
- Manage the training of new and existing control room operators working in alignment with the Operator Certification Program.
- Provide feedback on operator performance and assign training for improvement as needed.
- Implement use of new technologies, cost saving techniques/materials and improved safety procedures.
- Support the use of High-Level Control (HLC) systems.
- Improve equipment net availability, Production Rate Indexes (PRI), Meantime between failure (MTBF) and decrease overall maintenance and productions costs.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis as it pertains to control room operations.
- Assist plants in the preparation and implementation of critical equipment repairs that impact defined key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Work with operations to establish and maintain kiln shell profile standards for high operating reliability and service life of refractories.
- Be a resource to the plant for training on kilns, technical assistance, follow-up and troubleshooting.
- Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of equivalent experience in a cement manufacturing environment
Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical Engineering
Required Work Experience:
- 7-10 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- 3+ years in the cement manufacturing is required.
Required Training/Certifications:
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of SAP and Excel is preferred
Travel Requirements: 10%
Additional Requirements:
- Availability to provide engineering support on a 24-hour operation.
- Achieving a level considered expert.
- Comprehensive personal computer software knowledge required.
- Principles of equipment reliability analysis methods such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
- Good leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting.
- Desire/drive for continuous improvement.
- Team player who enjoys working with diverse groups of people, i.e. at all levels.
- Self-starter with initiative/energy to work with people, develop ideas, and drive maintenance improvement.

- Demonstrate technical proficiency for area of responsibility and the ability to translate technical information to non-technical staff.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
