Material Handler Lead

POSITION SUMMARY
The Material Handler Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the company’s shipping and receiving functions as well as for the storage and distribution of all items received. The manager will be responsible for providing logistical support for warehouse functions through ensuring that shipping and receiving procedures are followed and that positive relations are managed with a diverse group of customers, vendors and internal contacts within the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Contacting freight carriers to arrange for the pick-up of goods
- Accurately preparing Bill of Lading (BOL) paperwork for all shipments
- Loading and unloading of all outbound and inbound shipments
- Unpacks, examining and storing incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Checking inbound and outbound shipment for accuracy against BOL and damage. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions.
- Safe picking, packing, palletizing and staging of products according to pick list documentation. Takes picture of all orders according to pick list documentation
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies used in the department
- Facilitates stock transfers of product between 5 other production/warehouse locations
- Conducts weekly and monthly cycle counts for the facility ensuring all QA documents and COC are created, and in order, for shipping of aerospace products
- Communicates with Customer Service team and plant management on any shipping delays or product shortages
- Performs functions necessary to track on-hand inventory for all materials (raws, packaging, etc), goods received and shipped
- Maintains clean and safe work area and equipment and follows all prescribed safety regulations
- Operates forklift, electric pallet jack or hand truck to convey, move or hoist materials and products to proper, and safe, storage locations, departments or areas in the plant
- Operates stretch wrappers and banders for securing and palletizing goods for shipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Point of contact for procurement to include daily and weekly counts of packaging and raw materials
- Get RCRA Training
- Get Trained in Hazmat Shipping
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum of a high school education or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with freight forwarders for organizing and scheduling international shipments
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with DOT and IATA regulations for hazardous shipments
- Minimum of 2 years of factory-related shipping and receiving experience
- Licensed forklift truck operator

WORKING CONDITIONS
- A manufacturing area with limited heat or air conditioning. Conditions may be cold or extremely hot and humid.
- Exposure to the hazards of moving equipment, high voltage, and moving mechanical parts that require use of Personal Protective Safety Equipment (PPE’s) including steel toed shoes, arm sleeves and safety goggles. Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles.
