Job Purpose
Holcim Solutions and Products US, LLC (“Holcim”) is hiring a Field Test Engineer. This
position is responsible for field testing materials and monitoring and reporting on
performance. The Field Test Engineer will support a variety of clients including Project
Management, Research & Development, Codes and Technical & Warranty. The Field Test
Engineer will be responsible for working with roofing contractors to identify projects and
install test roofs as well as managing the company’s test decks
The position covers all states within the continental United States.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

-Coordinate, negotiate, select, and schedule product trials as requested
-Collect, organize, report on and store data from trialing process 
-Develop and produce all field reports, including initial trial and follow up auditing process 
-Provide for installation and monitoring of the new products as required 
-Subject matter expert for the field services side of R&D
-Review all costs and proposals from vendors for scope and accuracy 
-Position with regular travel in the field performing in-depth investigations to complete
 analysis of roofing systems exhibiting issues, requiring extensive knowledge of all
 construction practices as they relate to Holcim Building Envelope roofing systems.
-Position requires routine detailed expense/travel reporting and maintenance
 requirements to maintain company issued equipment
-Quick and thorough completion of all paperwork including photographs related to each
 trial to properly document Holcim Building Envelope position for presentation and future
 reference including all weathering and installation documentation.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to clearly communicate with
 building owners, roofing contractors, sales reps, building consultants, and other
 clientele. 
-Demonstrate and promote a culture of safety, utilizing all necessary PPE and following
 all safety protocols on roofing projects
-Keep Manager and Product Requestor apprised of relevant claims and issues.
-Work with Technical & Warranty to better understand requested assembly requirements
 from Contractors and test assemblies as needed
-Understand Holcim’s strategic direction and align activities and metrics to execute and
 deliver against them
-Create and foster a culture of customer-centric, action-oriented, collaborative teammates

-Participate in corporate initiatives as assigned to enhance company capabilities,
 performance, and efficiency
-Collaborate effectively across functional departments (including Marketing, Sales,
 Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Field Services) to implement process and
 system improvements that improve customer satisfaction, simplify work processes and
 drive breakthrough growth

 

Qualifications
-A minimum of 8+ years of progressive roofing/construction experience
-Preferred: Registered Roof Observer (RRO) certification and/or Registered Roof
 Consultant Certification
-Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or other related
 field
-Should be intimately familiar with roofing materials and general roof assemblies. Product
 knowledge should include EPDM, TPO, PVC, Asphalt, ISO, adhesives, etc.
-Excellent organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the
 ability to maintain positive relationships with customers and teammates
-High level of intellectual and emotional intelligence is required
-Demonstrated proficiency in process development, implementation and improvement

Working Conditions
Position will be office-based in Nashville TN. Business travel up to 70% of time.

 

Physical Requirements
Field Test Engineer should be physically capable of climbing extension ladders, accessing
vertical roof top hatches during all climate seasons and various weather conditions. All PPE
requirement must be observed at all times.
