ABOUT THE ROLE

The Checker/Loader is responsible for operating material handling equipment such as forklift (propane and/or electric), hand trucks, and pallet jacks to move stock or reorganize storage. Performs general maintenance and clean-up of work area.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Examines incoming and outgoing materials. Compares shipments with records, (such as manifests, invoices or orders) to verify accuracy before receiving or shipping products.
  • Distributes material to the various production areas in a manner that complements productivity. Moves finished goods to the shipping area as needed. Checks material movement transactions for accuracy of part numbers, quantities and locations.
  • Prepares documents, such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials. Determines proper loading procedures for all shipment modes.
  • Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability and damages and discrepancies for purposes of reporting, accounting and record keeping.
  • Works closely with team to rectify any discrepancies with damaged product, shortages and non-conformance to quality specifications.
  • Loads and unloads containers, flat beds and any other form of transportation of Malarkey materials.
  • Operates lift truck in the yard moving material around and following FIFO procedures.
  • Stages and organizes pallets of product in yard as directed. Performs light quality control to ensure products are going to the correct areas.
  • Performs general cleanup and maintenance of your work area. Maintains storage areas in efficient and orderly manner. Responsible for proper handling of materials and equipment to minimize the potential for damage and injury.
  • Assists and directs drivers as they navigate through yard for loading and unloading.
  • Participates in various projects in the yard as assigned by lead or supervisor.
  • Communicates with various departments in the company on product and inventory levels.
  • Participates in finished goods inventory counting one Saturday per month.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential in this role.

 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience operating forklift trucks (propane and/or electric) with the ability to operate them safely in congested areas. Ability to perform basic math calculations with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to be flexible adapting to changes quickly and think conceptually. Must be reliable, with the ability to work independently and in team setting, always maintain a positive attitude, and remain calm in stressful situations. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills working within a diverse population.
