ABOUT THE ROLE
The Human Resources Manager (HRM) is a business partner responsible for strategic human resource planning and strategies to support profitable and sustainable business operations. This role supports the HR Director for the North East and Great Lakes region and line managers by identifying key HR issues and developing action plans to support business objectives.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Health & Safety: You will demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and operational support while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures. You will also promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Human Resources Planning & Strategy: You will assist the HR Director in implementing HR strategies to ensure that the necessary employee resources are available to achieve planned results. This includes working with line managers to identify and resolve organizational issues that support the attainment of business objectives
  • HR Policies and Programs: You will oversee performance management activities such as development plans, appraisals, bonuses, staffing, training, engagement, compliance, and labor relations. You will also develop and implement HR policies and programs, advise client groups on HR matters, and collaborate with the HR team to ensure consistency and best practices.
  • Business Acumen and Analytics: You will align with the organization’s vision and understand key value drivers that impact growth and financial performance. By using HR metrics, you will analyze trends and data to support evidence-based decisions and demonstrate the return on investment of HR initiatives. Key focus areas include workforce trends, turnover, engagement, performance reviews, and diversity & inclusion.
  • Corporate Culture & Change Management: You will serve as an expert on company culture and the employee value proposition, with the goal of fostering a high-performance, highly engaged work environment. You will also play a strategic role in change management by promoting employee and managerial buy-in and minimizing resistance to change.
  • Learning & Development Programs: You will collaborate with the Learning and Development team and the broader HR team to identify training needs and resources for targeted employees. You will help create or facilitate training programs, support employee development in assigned areas, and engage line managers in managing and nurturing future talent, including key development programs.
  • Talent Acquisition Management: You will support recruitment and selection, collaborate on compensation and employment terms, and oversee new employee orientation and onboarding. You will lead talent management to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the right people with the right skills and motivation, while also working to enhance employee engagement.
  • Legal & Compliance: You will ensure legal compliance by applying relevant HR laws, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization in hearings. You will advise the business on best practices and legal obligations, influencing compliance and resolving any legal or litigation issues.
  • Employee & Labour Relations: You will support local managers in resolving employee and labor relations issues, including disciplinary actions. You will also participate in collective bargaining and grievance arbitration, and provide consultative support for employee performance matters.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours. 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, LR, or industrial psychology is preferred.
  • Required Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience is required.
  • Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft suite, Success Factors ERP or other HR Information Systems is necessary.
  • Travel Requirements: This position requires 30% travel.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Bilingualism in English and French is a requirement.
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and understand business needs to offer solutions.
  • You must be able to handle difficult situations with influence and have strong employee relations skills, including investigations and conflict resolution.
  • Understanding of HRIS, HR automation, data analytics, and leveraging advanced HR technologies like AI and cloud computing is required.
  • Leadership experience, project management skills, and knowledge of organizational development are essential
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex matrixed environment, resilience under pressure, and strong communication skills.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
