ABOUT THE ROLE
The automation and instrumentation Specialist is responsible for the plant process control system (PCS] specification, alarm system, and instrumentation, application programming, testing, hardware implementation, and electrical maintenance. The incumbent applies the PCS as a tool for improvement of plant performance, including product quality, rate, availability, OEE, and MTBF.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Ensure system programming meets with proper safety and environmental compliance.
- Ensure proper operation of, and troubleshooting of, electrical & instrumentation system components, including transmitters, actuators, controllers, motor and drive systems, VFDs, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems DCS for process control.
- Troubleshoot field devices to control Logix and/or PLC I/O points.
- Calibrating, configuring, and repairing measurement/control instruments, flow, level, pressure, and temperature, including associated valves and valve actuators.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex electrical/electronic systems.
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLCs, process controls, electrical, instrument, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Evaluate computer control equipment and its components to ensure they meet the plant requirements.
- Define, write, and implement changes to existing process control programs. Prevent downtime due to faults; continuous improvement to HMI and programming to both extend the life of existing PCS and facilitate eventual replacement.
- Coordinate electrical and automation contractors on improvement projects.
- Establish, order, and maintain a spare parts inventory for all devices.
- Continuous improvement on the implementation of systems such as TIS and HLC systems.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or 9 years of experience without a degree
Field of Study Preferred: Industrial electricity, Electronics & networking, Mechatronics
Required Work Experience: 3 - 9 years
Required Technical Skills: Advanced understanding of OT network administration: client/server architecture, network design, and server operating systems. Intermediate to advanced skills in HMI and PLC programming software. Intermediate to advanced maintenance skills in process instrumentation
Travel Requirements: 0 – 5%
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with the tools and supervisory role
- Knowledge of industrial safety techniques and practices
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance best practices and techniques
- Experience working in a union environment
- Ability to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.
- Experience working in cement, mining, steel, or similar industries is desirable
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
