ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will apply your building science expertise to support contractors, builders, and design professionals in optimizing the energy performance, durability, and code compliance of structures utilizing spray foam insulation systems. You will serve as a technical resource to ensure projects align with best practices in building performance, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Apply building science principles to evaluate and support spray foam insulation installations in residential and light commercial applications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including IECC, International Fire Code (IFC), ASHRAE 62.2, and others as required.
  • Provide on-site and remote consultation to builders, contractors, and architects on energy code compliance, insulation performance, moisture control, and indoor air quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders including builders, architects, inspectors, and code official.
  • Manage multiple projects across different stages, maintaining attention to detail and timely follow-through.
  • Maintain and calibrate diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Conduct training sessions or site visits to educate teams on best practices in spray foam application and building envelope performance.
  • Perform other duties related to building science and insulation system performance as required.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 2–3 years of experience in the construction, insulation, or energy efficiency sector.
  • Hands-on knowledge of building envelope systems, HVAC, air sealing, and moisture management.
  • Experience performing residential or commercial energy audits, load calculations, or HVAC performance evaluations.
  • Familiarity with spray foam application techniques and chemical behavior is a plus.
  • Proficiency with building performance software such as TREAT, REM/Rate, Ekotrope, or similar.
  • Familiarity with SketchUp or other 3D modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of ventilation, indoor air quality, and dew point control.
  • BPI Certification and/or RESNET HERS Rater Certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Energy Star for New Homes, LEED, or other rating systems is an asset.
