Chemistry Lab Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE
In collaboration with the cement lab team, the lab technician will have to do concrete mixes and physical tests. The employee will work closely with the technical sales support team. The lab tech will manage the analysis results and the data entry in our dedicated computerized systems. The lab tech will have to manage some of the lab equipment maintenance routine. The lab tech will contribute to the research and development projects.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Respect and promote safe practices in the laboratory by adopting appropriate behaviors
- Perform analyzes according to different standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, CSA, etc..
- Be responsible for the proper use of the equipment and its maintenance and follow-up.
- Participate in inter-laboratory test campaigns such as CCRL, RRT and CSA.
- Respect the quality assurance program of the laboratory.
- Manage the laboratory warehouse space (driving a forklift and a pallet truck could be required).
- Plan, prepare, weight, sieve, mix and test concrete mixes with different analysis methods.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
- Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: College diploma in civil Engineering or equivalent or relevant working experience.
- Additional Education Preferred: Forklift driving experience suitable
- Field of Study Preferred: Lab work, Civil engineering, concrete, cement or aggregate industry.
- Required Work Experience: +2 years.
- Travel Requirements: None.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrate good manual dexterity and able to carry heavy weight.
- Demonstrate good analytical and good judgmental skills.
- Be proficient or interested in the concrete laboratory testing methods.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
