ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary objective of the Automation Project Engineer is to provide support with modernization capital projects for a 12-month period. The role involves conducting regular field inspections in an industrial environment to develop a thorough understanding of plant electrical and automation requirements while driving a methodical, data-driven approach to solving complex problems.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Drive a methodical, data-driven approach to solving complex problems and promote continuous improvement in a fast-paced workplace.
- Successfully complete modernization capital projects on time and within budget through effective use of resources.
- Develop a firm scope of work for upcoming projects by collaborating with production and maintenance personnel.
- Oversee contractors during project execution to ensure they are working safely and efficiently.
- Manage the commissioning and hand-off of completed projects to the production team.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve plant reliability using engineering principles and analytical methods such as Root Cause Analysis.
- Update equipment files and SAP bills of material when discrepancies are found between actual and listed parts.
- Ensure productivity, housekeeping, and quality of work standards are maintained on all assigned projects
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or equivalent technical qualifications.
- Experience: 2 years of related experience in heavy industry or project environments.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of project management procedures, cost control, and scheduling.
- Assets: Experience using SAP PRD, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD; knowledge of cement technology and manufacturing.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership ability, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Competencies: Dealing with ambiguity, timely decision making, learning on the fly, and problem solving.
Additional Requirements:
- Travel requirements are less than 5%.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
